The Indian Violet Tarantulas is a much-loved Old World tarantula. Chilobrachys fimbriatus is a nervous tarantula and can become defensive very quickly so this is NOT a tarantula you should consider handling. If bitten, the venom in the bit may require medical attention.
As a burrowing species, Chilobrachys fimbriatus needs a cage that provides a suitable depth of substrate. Try to choose an enclosure where there is a decent amount of space between the top of the substrate and the lid of the container. This is a burrowing tarantula and will live in deep burrows, but will also produce a heavy amount of webbing. A little moisture won’t do your Chilobrachys fimbriatus any harm, and may even make burrowing easier. However wet, stagnant conditions should be avoided at all times. Keep the temperature between 72 – 79 degrees Fahrenheit, however, a few degrees warmer or colder is unlikely to cause them any issues.
