This species is notable because it is parthenogenic, and there are no remaining males that have been found. Females engage in pseudocopulation, stimulating both to produce viable eggs. This species are always found in coastal areas of the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, from the Maldives to Australia and beyond. Mourning geckos primarily eat insects, fruit and nectar with no desire for leafy green vegetation as this species is more frugivorous than omnivorous. Mourning Geckos should be kept at temperatures between 70F and 80F. The warmer the temperature the more active this species will become.
