This hard-to-come by salamander is native to the the lower mountainous areas of the Central American countries of Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras. The Palm Salamanders can be found under dead vegetation on the forest floor, and also been found under logs in coffee and cardamom plantations.
