Wolf Spiders are one of North America's largest and most common spiders. They are also one of the most feared, probably because of their size and the fact that they are often found indoors. Wolf Spiders aren't aggressive, though, and will usually only bite humans if they feel threatened. The bite is relatively harmless, though it may cause pain and swelling.

Wolf Spiders are beneficial predators that feed on insects, including cockroaches, mosquitoes, and other spiders. They are also known to help control garden pests. Wolf Spiders are typically black or brown with stripes or markings on their abdomen. They range in size from 1/2 inch to 2 inches long.

Wolf Spiders make exciting pets and can be kept in a terrarium with simple provisions. They require a substrate (such as soil or peat moss), a water dish, and hiding places. Wolf Spiders are easy to care for and can live for several years.
